Shanghai Arrival: 2/12/2013
I have officially landed in Shanghai and had my first meal: sushi/”casual” Japanese food…
It’s very different from New York. The streets are all high techy, with signs that show in LED where roads are congested and for how long. It’s really cool!
But, sadly… I can’t get on Facebook, Google, or Twitter because it’s blocked here. Hopefully when I get my VPN, all will be swell. :)
Chinese New Year’s is still going on (day 3!). Apparently over 1 million people went home from the city (foreigners that live in the country, but work in Shanghai) for the new year, so roads are less crowded.
As I’m writing this from the 15th floor @ my aunt’s apartment, I can hear some scattered honking of the busy streets below and some Chinese opera playing from afar.
Yep, Shanghai is different. But not in a bad way.
